Cottage History
The history that we have is that the main part of the cottage began as a change-room for skating in Elgin around 1850. Under the cladding it’s made from small logs. It was moved to the island (possibly as late as/) in the 1880s and joined with another building to create the cottage. Additions were made later and adjustments etc. The original owner was Anson Halladay. The cottage was owned by the Kenney family at one point. They were looking to get away from the Hotel for periods of time but found that it was impossible. |
